Whippet Blanket Coat

Keep your whippet warm and comfortable in my handcrafted Whippet Blanket Coat, made to order from repurposed blankets, some found in charity shops or carboots. I design each coat to follow the unique shape of a whippet, creating a comfortable fit that sits neatly over the body while allowing freedom of movement for sighthound antics.

Because every dog is different, I make each coat to your dog’s individual measurements. This tailored approach helps ensure a secure and comfortable fit, helping your whippet stay warm without restricting movement. Whether your dog enjoys long countryside walks or simply loves curling up somewhere cosy, this coat provides practical warmth with timeless style.

I design each coat from reclaimed blankets, giving beautiful materials a second life and making every piece unique. To highlight the original character of the blanket, I incorporate the blanket tassels as a decorative feature. I also finish the edges with toning bias binding, creating a smart, durable finish that complements the fabric beautifully.

For everyday practicality, I include adjustable Velcro tummy and chest straps. These fastenings allow you to put the coat on quickly while achieving a secure fit around your dog. In addition, I add a soft fleece collar, which can be worn up or down to provide extra warmth around the neck  during colder weather.

If your whippet needs additional protection during the winter months, you can choose an optional thermal interlining. This extra layer increases insulation and helps shield your dog from chilly winds while maintaining comfort.

I handmake every coat to order in Brighton, paying close attention to every detail from cutting and fitting to the finishing touches.

This design is also available as a Greyhound Coat, specially adapted to suit the shape and proportions of larger sighthounds.

Fabric Source

The Brown/Blue and Country Cottage Mix colourways come from blankets found in charity shops. I purchase all other blanket fabrics from trusted suppliers.

Care Instructions

For best results, hand wash with a wool-safe detergent and leave the coat to dry naturally in a warm place. Although you can wash it on a wool cycle, I recommend hand washing to help preserve the fabric and shape. Please do not tumble dry.
