  1. Very base of neck, where it joins the shoulder blades to where you want coat to end, usually the base of tail. Your dog needs to be standing. If your dog holds their tail upwards when walking, you will need to raise it slightly, so you don’t over measure. This may be easier for you with 2 people
  2. Base of neck to narrowest part of your dog
  3. Neck at the very base of neck, not too tight
  4. All around the narrowest part of your dog tummy
  5. All around the widest part of your dog’s chest
  6. Length of neck, only needed if coat has snood collar
  7. Across front
  8. Very base of neck where it joins shoulder blades to D ring of harness, only if needed

When you send me your measurements, I’ll check them carefully and let you know if anything looks unusual. I may ask you to re‑measure anything that seems unexpected, and a photo of your dog can be really helpful—especially for mixed breeds.

If you’re unsure about anything, just get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.

If you realise after receiving your coat that you made a mistake with the measurements, don’t worry. I can remake or adjust the coat. I’ll just need the original coat returned in good condition, along with a £10 contribution toward postage and fabric. If the mistake is mine, I’ll replace it at no extra cost.”

HOW TO Measure your Dog
for a collar

The best way to measure your dog is using a soft tape measure. If you do not have one you can use a piece or string (or shoe lace) around the dog’s neck and head and then measure the length of the string with a ruler.

  1. Measure: Use a cloth measuring tape and measure your dog’s neck circumference. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight to be sure of a correct measurement.
  2. Add: Add 4cms to the measurement for the best collar size.
  3. Safety: This plus-two final measurement makes sure the collar is not too tight or too loose. You should be able to snugly fit two fingers between the collar and your dog.

for a collar

The best way to measure your dog is using a soft tape measure. If you do not have one you can use a piece or string (or shoe lace) around the dog’s neck and head and then measure the length of the string with a ruler.

Measurement 1:  Around the widest part of the head. This is essential for house collars and martingale collars as these will slip over the dogs head and do not open

Measurement B: Behind the ears around the thinnest part of the neck.

Measurement C: Around the base of the neck at the widest point where the collar will sit.

Collars are adjustable so when ordering choose the size that fits best with all these measurements. If you require smaller or larger collars then you can request these at [email protected]
